My Experience At The Good Hair Expo

Cape Town experienced its very first Good Hair Expo, thanks to Nini and Sisy (see: Let’s meet up at the Cape Town Good Hair Expo) on 26 July at Imperial Bar and Cafe in the CBD.

The weather was cold and wet but Ronell and I were greeted warmly by Sisy at the entrance, where we also had our pics taken in front of the Bantu Wear banner.

Louisha Tinan from Diva Afro helped ladies decipher their hair type. Check out that TWIST OUT!!

Dr. Larry Gershowitz from Medical Hair Restoration was the first to address the crowd. His topic was about hair loss and growth. Dr. Gershowitz (Dr. Miracle) also spoke about the damage we cause to our hairlines due to excessive manipulation.

I was quite honoured when Nini contacted me to speak about my natural hair journey and my favourite topic, Self Love.

I was followed by Keneilwe from The Black Hair Affair who spoke about her journey to healthy hair, and starting up her blog.

Keneilwe and I held a question and answer session after our discussion.

The Kera Care Team then gave a very informative session about their new brand. I love the fact that they have products for relaxed AND natural hair. They had a quiz session after their discussion and guests won prizes. Who doesn’t like prizes!

My highlights of the event were the great hair discussions and lessons learnt, the networking, the Bantu Wear fashion show at the end of the event and of course the gift bag… we loooove gift bags 😉

I am looking forward to attending many more hair events of this nature in Cape Town. Thanks Nini and Sisy for bringing the Good Hair Expo together, you did an amazing job!

Here’s a sneak peak of the next one, organized by Maggie Mutangiri. Watch this space for more…
