As I Am… Naturally

My sister spent a part of the school holiday visiting the USA. She asked me to draw up a wishlist of items I longed to try and “naturally” (see what I just did there?) I chose hair products (duh!) I had previously heard about the As I Am Coconut Co-Wash from Eleanor Ja’dore, who swears by this product. “As I Am” always up for something new (oh boy, I’m all punny today!), I decided to give it a go. 

On receiving my gift-pack from sissie dearest, the realization that I may just be a product junkie struck me hard. Picture me, a 40 year old curvy girl, jumping up and down, clapping hands, big smile on my face like an uncool 12 year old. 

I have to say this, it was not my intention to review this product because I feel it’s just so cruel to review products that are not easily accessible to South African naturalista’s. I would rather blog about our own brands such as Rockin Naturals, Afro Botanics, Wema or even Earthy (which I am yet to try). However, I just had to share. Bear with me, this gets interesting. 

So I’m standing under the shower, my hair sectioned in 4 and I swear to you, opening up that jar was like opening up a can of gold. I cannot begin to tell you how slowly I moved. Personally, I felt the tub was a bit awkward to handle.  On opening it up, I was immediately hit with a citrusy, coconutty scent and all was forgiven. I took a small amount of said gold and started lathering my scalp with it. 
Now dear reader, I do not know what wizardry goes into the As I Am Coconut Co-Wash ingredients but I have never experienced a co-wash that leaves your hair squeaky clean. It literally removed product build up. This is no joke – Squeaky. Clean. I could hear the squeak! This gold magic not only cleans, oh no –  it actually detangles and leaves your hair soft, shiny and luxurious too.

I would honestly say that As I Am Coconut Co-Wash is like a tub full of joy, which is kind of ironic because Joy is the name of the As I Am spokesperson. 

I emailed her to discuss this review.She asked me to tag her and she revealed some interesting news. As I Am Coconut Co-Wash will soon be available in South Africa!! Yes, you read right, we will all soon be experiencing the joy of this sought after product in our own country. As I Am Coconut Co-Wash gets 4 snaps in a circle from this blogger. The only problem I have now is curbing my HIH (Hand In Hair) tendencies.
