Today is the final day of 2017. I’m typing this out as I’m sitting on my bed while my hair is safely deep conditioning under a plastic shopping bag and silk scarf! I’ve been wrecking my brain trying to think of what 2017 means to me, and the moment I put pen to paper I’ve realized once again that this has been yet another amazing year in my life.
As part of the Cape Town Naturally team, we’ve pulled off 4 phenomenal events including the massively successful 2nd annual Cape Town Natural Hair Fest (I’m still trying to put into words how much this one meant to me).
As Cape Town Curly I’ve worked with brands such as Noughty, Clicks, Aunt Jackie’s, Darling Hair, Shea Moisture, My Natural Hair, Design Essentials, Noir Hair and Cantu, all of which I am eternally grateful for and I know that there will be so much more heading my way in 2018.
I started my YouTube channel this year!!! I was also featured in the Ackermans in-house magazine, in the Weekend Argus and on the well known natural hair website, naturallycurly.com, a moment I am ever so grateful for.
On a personal level I have ticked off a few things on my bucket list which includes exploring South Africa – this year alone I’ve visited Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Free State and the Northern Cape. I did my first cruise on the MSC Sinfonia, and I got a call back for an advert I auditioned for by complete accident!! Guess it’s time to get myself an agent!
If I could sum up this year in one word it would be Grateful – yes, I know, it has been used over and over again but I am alive, my daughter is in the room next door being her moody teenage self, my partner is on his way from work. We are about to celebrate the new year with the rest of my beautiful and supportive family. I am grateful!
