Meet Margo Fargo

I am writing this with tears of joy in my eyes. I can’t contain my excitement and whenever that happens I feel I need to write. Let me explain.

A few weeks ago, at the Clicks Curls event in Johannesburg, I met this gorgeous woman. Of course her big head of curls was the first thing I noticed, then of course her absolute natural beauty. I mean… she exudes the kind of beauty from within that makes you know that there is so much more to her.

Margo Fargo (yes, that’s her real name) is from Heidedal in Bloemfontein. Of course when I found out that bit of information, I was drawn to her because Maurice is from Bloem, so I know that amazing souls come from Bloem!

I found out that Margo had a dream to win the Miss SA crown – with her natural hair. Of course I needed to interview her!!

Today, it was just announced that Margo is officially a Top 12 finalist for Miss SA. And she did it all while rocking her natural hair.

Here is a little more about the beauty queen from Bloem.

Tell us a little bit about yourself

I am a 25 year lady born and raised in Bloemfontein, Heidedal. I have a BSc. Consumer Sciences degree and automatically classified as a foodie at heart. One of my recent focuses is growing and co-founding a non profit organisation.
I absolutely love learning about different brands and what drives their success. I’m a hair influencer and have a passion and zeal for the community.

How long have you been natural

It started quite indirectly stopping to use heat on my hair. If i remember correctly, I have been a natural for 2 and a half years.

What made you decide to enter Miss SA?

I entered because it has been a goal of mine to do this. It is one of the most prestigious pageants in the country that creates a platform to lead and serve as an ambassador for South Africa. I have seen what Miss South Africa has produced and I want to be apart of the legacy. Miss South Africa creates room and opportunity to tell your story, to lead and to Inspire a nation.

What would you like to achieve by entering Miss SA?

There are so many things I would like to achieve through Miss SA such as:
Adopting and working with a team that have such great initiatives already in place such as Cell C,take a girl child to work and attending various projects round the country.
I am passionate about equipping and empowering the future generation to challenge the status quo.
Food insecurity in developing communities.
Beauty with a purpose through highlighting how unique beauty each one posseses as well representation in your world.
I would also like to make a sustainable mark in the branding and marketing industry during this season.

What is your hair routine?

I always start with a good wash. I use all sulphate free hair products
Hydrating Conditioner for 15minutes and then I wash it out
I love a good hair strengthening mask and leave it in for a day.
I love to air-dry my hair so that the curls are nice and tight.
I try to keep it as plain as possible.

Good luck with the finals, Margo! We will be routing for you.
