How fast did June fly by! How are we already in the second part of 2017!? I have so much to chat to you about this week. Today I want to tell you about a brand new natural hair range, founded by Kasuba Stuurman called Buuya. No… not buyer or booyah. It’s pronounced… okay, check out this clip I did with Kasuba
Buuya’s media launch took place on evening of the 20th of June and I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Kas, who celebrated her birthday on that day, to hang out and help out wherever I could #ctcurlywomenxwomen
When I entered her office building the divine smell of apricots hit me immediately. This is the scent you’ll get in all her products. Kas remembers a time in her youth when she and a friend sat in an apricot tree, eating the sweet fruit till her belly was full. I love that she put so much of herself into her brand.
Active ingredients in the Buuya range are plant based extracts such as, Mongongo Oil, Mafura Butter, Cape Coastal Honeybush, and Kigelia Africana. So you know you can expect nourished, moisturized, and strengthened hair with Buuya. Because the brand was created for natural hair, you can expect it to be free of sulphates and parabens, but here’s my favourite part – Buuya is certified under Fair Trade!
The event was attended by 20 of Cape Town’s natural hair bloggers. Buuya went all out in spoiling us with samples of the entire range and we each walked away with a full sized product of our choice. Check out these awesome pics taken by ElonaNH Photography
Spending time behind the scenes with Kasuba is a memory I will never forget. I have so much more respect for women who produce their own hair products now. They dedicate their lives to bring you products that are made with you in mind. I am not saying that I will never go out and buy another international brand again, because your holy grail is your holy grail – Amen! What I am saying is that it is high time we support locally made products in South Africa, because they are especially made with us and our climate in mind.
For the full range of products visit the Buuya online shop here. My personal favourites are the cleansing milk (which is a co-wash), the refreshing mist (which is always in my bag), and the hair and body butter (whaaat??!!)
Here’s the exciting news which is only extended to capetowncurly.com readers. Give me a second, I need caps for this:
