Oh Wema Wangu !!

So as you know, the Cape Town Hair & Beauty Show happened on the 13th and 14th of December. The event was in one word, “fantastic”. I was approached by a few people simply to say “thank you for doing this for our industry“. We hosted a lot of fantastic brands both international and local. Can I just get a round of applause for our local entrepreneurs who are venturing into the beauty industry! Wema Bodycare is one such company.
Wema means “goodness” in Swahili and (like the title of this post says) Oh My Goodness!

Wema Bodycare is the brainchild of husband and wife team Patrick and Leonete. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the breathtakingly beautiful Leo at the event. She is everything their brand stands for, filled with goodness, an original and oh so natural.
After speaking about all things curl-friends would naturally chat about (with much enthusiasm of course), we exchanged products and advice and promised to stay in touch.

Leo gifted me with one of her creations, the Nourishing Tea Tree Hair Butter. The Wema Bodycare blog states that the product is a natural hair treatment that:

  • Moisturises dry hair
  • Protects
  • Prevents dandruff
  • Smells delicious
  • Soothes the scalp
  • Promotes hair growth

  • Adds shine

The consistency of this product is like … gourmet chocolate mousse made out of the best products available. I know this description is bizarre but this hair butter is so light and fluffy and it smells like a mixture of Summer, happiness and … well… citrussy goodness! (Can you say #WEMADDICTION)

I’ve used it as the final product in my wash n go regime, as part of my twist-out and I’ve even used it as a base treatment for The Kid’s newly braided hair.

The Nourishing Tea Tree Hair Butter retails at R120 on the Wema Bodycare website but be warned – once you click on that button, you will want to try out all their products. They have Jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, lemon essential oil – their online store is basically a natural girls nirvana.
Although Wema Bodycare is relatively new, I foresee big things in their future.

*Note to self: call Leo to find out what Wema has planned for 2015!!

Wema’s Nourishing Tea Tree Hair Butter gets 4 snaps in a “W” formation from me! Love, Love, Love.

Stay Gold, Mandy
