I think I gave a little screech of glee when I saw this at my favourite Clicks:
Ok, it wasn’t a “little” screech. I actually jumped up and down and clapped my hands like a little girl in the middle of Clicks. But seriously, isn’t this a beautiful sight! Sulphate and paraben free hair products always has me smiling for days. So I didn’t know much about the Hask brand when I first came across them, but I purchased a few of their products to test them out.
They stock oils, shampoos, conditioners and deep conditioner packs in monoi, argan and macadamia variants. The oils (18ml) and deep conditioners (50g) are R49.95 each at Clicks… so I purchased one of each *hangs head in shame* (Their shampoos and conditioners are R115.99 each but I will get to those eventually.) Yes, it’s a little pricey, but aren’t you worth it **Please don’t tell me I’m becoming a product junkie!!**
Having always wanted to try monoi oil, I mixed a few drops to my Tresemme Naturals conditioner. I will say this, if I could lick it, I would. Absolutely heavenly. However, the monoi worked better on The Kid’s 4c hair than on my 3c/4a hair. My curls hardened a bit, which made it quite unpleasant and crunchy.
The monoi deep conditioner worked like a bomb on The Kid’s hair as well. Her hair turned out shiny, soft and so beautiful. I wish I was allowed to take pics but hey, she’s 12 and apparently I’m not cool this week. Maybe next time.
The other oils played well with my hair and they all smell so delicious…
Please note the simple thought of these oils make my mouth water. I am sitting typing this, smelling my hair – which is inbetween my nose and my upper lip – my version of Movember.
Moving along now – The winner for me is the macadamia oil, which kept my hair soft and manageable and made it difficult for me to stop touching my curls. Definitely going back for more of this one.
The oils work well with my raw shea butter (Rockin Naturals) too. We all know that shea butter is very good for you but it is no secret that it smells horrid. I mixed a few drops into my shea butter, which made it smell quite yummy.
A massive kudos to Clicks for stocking new products that healthy hair enthusiasts can get excited about. You all know that I swear by castor oil, but it is so great to have another option.
Why not rush to Clicks today. They’re running their famous “Buy 3 and the cheapest 1 free” special on Hask products. It’s the perfect time to give it a try.
Hask and Clicks get 4 snaps out of 5 from me.
